Sports Scheduling: Progress to Date and Work in Progress

SpeakerGraham Kendall

I will present two different sports scheduling problems. One is based on the English Football league and the other is a more generic problem which enables scheduling of different sporting events. The talk will outline the progress made to date, the work that is currently ongoing and some of the challenges that remain. As we are addressing real world problems, modeling the problem is one challenge. However, another challenge, which is often overlooked, is collecting relevant data. I will discuss how we have done this, and the additional problems that this presents.
